| You are going for beaches and subtropical temperatures? You like having people around? You can have it at the Mediterranean coast. Especially during summer holidays the area is so crowded you will need to make reservations for your campground.

There's more, of cause. Gape at the wealthy people in Monaco, Cannes, Antibes or Saint-Tropez in the Cote d'Azur region. Don't be scared if you hear choppers. In them are most probably no police officers, but movie stars or tennis players on their way home. Don't forget to admire the luxury yachts owned by the jet set.
Tip: when in Saint-Tropez, don't stay at the harbor. Stroll into the village and you'll find some places to have dinner at affordable prices.
Fun: mountain biking at Porquerolles. This island is a national park. Apart from hiking, mountain biking is the only way to explore this park. Take a brake at one of the silver beaches and imagine your self in somewhere in the Pacific...
Wanting more nature? Next to the Italian border the Mercantour National Park offers impressing Alps, being the domain of wolves. West of Marseille lays the Camargue, where you'll find the famous wild horses. Also in the Camargue, every summer you may attend to colourful gypsy festivals in Sainte-Marie-de-la-mer.
Travelling in the direction of the Spanish border we find the city of Montpellier. Don't miss the street artists at Place de la Comédie.
The university town of Narbonne is worth a visit, if only for the imposing cathedral of Saint-Just. Furthermore, the archeological museum of Narbonne claims to poses one of the largest collections of Gallo roman wall paintings.
